Life with Grace Anne: ASD Update

July 2021 – 4 Months of Early Intervention Therapy

We have some updates on our sweet girl.I know several people have been asking us for some, so I thought I’d use my personal blog as a place to update you all on Grace Anne and her development. <3

We had a great doctor’s appointment and checkup for Grace Anne yesterday. After talking with the doctor some more, basically we are going to have Grace Anne also evaluated for sensory processing disorder (SPD). Basically this seems to be a very positive factor to what some are of our hurdles are with Grace Anne when it comes to her development. We aren’t 100% sure, but we are going to see another specialist locally to determine. My “Momma gut” has a little bit of hope for this.

As for her Autism (ASD) evaluation, Brooks and I have decided to wait a little bit longer (a few months or so) before we try another evaluation. Basically Grace Anne is 25 months old, going on 26 months, which makes it even harder to diagnose a child at her age. This will also give her time to learn more in therapy. At this rate she is learning something new every single day! In addition to this, she will be adding on more therapy to her schedule possibly such as occupational therapy and *maybe* behavioral therapy. So she will be an even busier girl come this fall and so will we. Any free time we have we spend it with her and helping with her therapy.

Someone told me this the other day and its true, but I’m bascially “home schooling” her while running a full-time business. And let’s just while it has been rewarding, but also exhausting for me at the same time. But Grace Anne is doing sign language consistently these days and is doing SO great with it! Her language and “jargon” is starting to ramp up more and more, but sign language is definitely her main way of communicating with us and family these days. She’s the sweetest, most loving little girl you’ll ever meet and she truly brings us so much joy.

Any more updates we have about Grace Anne, we will keep you all posted as much as we can during this journey. ❤

PS: If you have kids that want to learn sign language, we are LOVING the app called “baby sign”. It’s an interactive, fun way for kids to learn sign language. It makes Grace Anne giggle everytime she plays with it and she is learning so much! She also loves the show “Bluey”, “Mickey Mouse” and oreo cookies right now. ❤
